02 + fresh ginger + garlic

03 + tamari sauce + coconut sugar

04 + sriracha sauce + lime juice

05 + green onions + cilantro

06 + jalapeno  + sesame seeds

steam the tempeh

Steam the tempeh for 10 minutes. Boiling tempeh helps to reduce or remove any trace of bitterness.

pan fry the tempeh

Sauté the tempeh until the pieces are lightly browned

season the tempeh

Add the ginger and garlic and stir until fragrant enough.

Whisk the tamari, coconut sugar, sriracha, and lime juice into a small bowl.  Pour the tamari marinade into the pan.

Continue cooking the tempeh until the sauce has slightly caramelized and browned more deeply.

Serve the sticky tempeh as is or halved in a serving plate, garnished with green onions, jalapeno chili, or cilantro, or over perfumed rice.
